10. Write a final reflection of the entire internship experience.

Before my internship there was a lot of things that I thought about the work world and how it would be different from school. My internship was a very big eye opener to the work world. Because I got to participate in an internship I truly learned what it is like to work an 8-hour work day. It showed me that even though school teaches us some good information and gives us good skill sets, it is AOIT that has truly prepared me for the working world. Some of my projects were a lot of fun to do and it felt very rewarding to finish them on time and to have my boss like the work that I did. Even though I don’t think that this is the type of work I would do for the rest of my working career, I had a lot of fun during the time of my internship. Overall though my internship was very enjoyable, and I really liked some of the work that I did during my time.

9. What major problems or frustrations have you experienced or observed in your work? How did you handle it?

9. What major problems or frustrations have you experienced or observed in your work? How did you handle it?              My main project was creating a new website for some old material that my boss had and wanted updated. So of course, my main problem came from this project. The problem was that I needed to put videos into my website that had Closed Captioning, but that did not take up a lot of size. I also needed to create the closed captioning for the videos. This was a problem because I did not know how to add closed captioning files to an imbedded video. So, to handle it I talked with my boss about the site and we decided to go with a YouTube player so the closed captioning files could be added easier, and for the closed captioning I found a site that was easy to work on. Because of deciding to go with a YouTube player, and working on a website for CC I fixed my problem of videos on my website.

8. What have you learned about yourself and what you want in a career?

So far I have learned a lot about myself. As much fun as I had in my internship I couldn't see myself working that job for the rest of my life. In my career I want to be out in the field and working with hands on things. I could not see myself working in a desk for the rest of my life. On the other hand the work that I did was fun. I enjoyed making a website and I wish I could have worked more with the other websites. That part of the job I could do. Overall my internship taught me a lot about what I want to do with my life and what type of job I want in the future.

7. How has this experience affected or changed your career/college plans?

7. How has this experience affected or changed your career/college plans?              As of right now I do not have a set career or college plan, besides the fact that I want to go to college, my plan has not changed. Like I have said before I do know from this internship that I do not want to be at a desk job. So, in a way this experience showed me that. But my college plan has not changed from my experience. Even though I liked the work I was doing, I don’t think I could do it as my job for 30 years. The IT experience I had during my internship has shown me that I could an IT related job and enjoy myself.
